Country Footy Regions

Midwest

Footy in the Midwest is built on distance, dedication and deep local pride. Spanning from Geraldton through coastal towns and far inland communities, the game connects people across one of the largest regional footprints in country football.

From packed ovals in Geraldton to small, remote towns where footy means everything, the Midwest lives and breathes the game.

Snapshot

MIDWEST REGION

In the Midwest, football is often the heartbeat of a town. It brings people together across vast distances, giving communities a reason to gather, compete and stay connected, especially in places where options are limited.

Whether it’s juniors starting out, seniors lining up on the weekend, or volunteers keeping clubs alive, footy plays a central role in everyday life throughout the region.

The Midwest stretches from Geraldton south and north along the coast, inland through farming and remote communities, and across some of the longest travel routes in country football. Despite the scale, participation remains strong, driven by passionate clubs, volunteers and local leaders.

  • Vast travel distances across coastal and inland towns
  • Strong football hub in Geraldton
  • Deep grassroots participation in smaller communities
  • Football as a key social anchor
  • School and community participation programs
