For those who witnessed the Division 2 Grand Final it will be remembered as one of the best Landmark matches in recent history as both teams hit the lead and lost the lead in the final minutes of the match.

As luck would have it, Lower South West had their noses infront when the final siren sound.

Having been relagated from Division 1 last carnival, they faced a spirited Great Southern team, who went into the match as favourites having breezed through the pool matches undefeated.

The match didnt start to plan as Great Southern looked to play the match on their terms with the fresh legged Michael McGlade kicking two goals and key forward Glynn Verbruggen hitting the scoreboard at ease.  Ben Gray capped off a great carnvial with another solid four quarters and earning an All Star selection.

In the second half, LSW was able to curtail key playmakers Geoffry Wynne and Jayden Woods and as the match went on they continued to gel.  Tough Midfielder Robert Dawson was judged best afield for his tenacious inside work in the midfield and Keneen Wilson continued to run all carnival.  Both players benefitted from the ruck work of David Winter. Dion Woods and the long sleeved Darren Tassos added some experience and cool heads to the backline at crucial stages of the match. 

Sam Jackson from Kojonup earnt All Star Selection for his carnival as did Jayden Woods from the Great Southern was earned the Bud Byfield Medal as the fairest and best player in Division 2.  

The competition for relegation was as hotly contested as the Grand Final and came down to the final match between Mortlock and Lower South West on Friday.  Trailing by a solitary point, a high shot on goals from LSW went over the goal post and was called a behind which resulted in a draw.  The split points gave Mortlock enough points to jump to fourth position above Eastern Districts.  Dallwallinu's Brad McNeill has been in stallar form at home and brought that form to the carnival earning All Star selection for Mortlock.

Central Midlands Coach Matt Helmes plugged away on one leg all carnival and played some impressive footy while his Dandy teammate Brad Ryan impressed.  Alex James showed his class for Eastern Districts whenever he went near the footy and football journeymen Chris Macquire peppered the goals through out the carnival.  Eastern Districts will be disappointed with their finish considering they had a strong position in a number of their games.

As with all years, the challenge remains to try and bring your best possible team to country week and this was evident in Division 2 that saw a number of similarly placed teams matched up against each other.
