Country Football WA is proud to announce a new partnership with the City of Bunbury to bring the Women’s Division of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Country Football Championships to Hands Oval, Bunbury from October 1–3, 2025.
This exciting collaboration marks the first time the Championships will be held outside of the Peel and Perth regions, showcasing regional WA's growing importance in the development of country football.
The event will bring together the best female football talent from across the state, with teams representing the South West Football League, Peel Football Netball League, Great Southern Football League, Great Northern Football League, Kimberley, North Pilbara Football League, Goldfields Football League, and Esperance Districts Football League.
Hands Oval, already cemented as a premier football venue, will also host both an AFL Pre-Season and Regular Season match in 2025, underscoring its status as an elite-level facility capable of hosting top-tier football competitions.
“Country Football WA is thrilled to be able to take one of our showcase events, the Women’s Division of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Country Championships, to Regional WA for the first time,” said Brent Sheridan, Country Competitions Manager.
“The Women’s Division of the Championships brings the best players from regional WA—from Kununurra to Esperance—to one destination and really is a celebration of female football in Country WA.”
“The opportunity for the best female players in Country WA to play at an AFL-quality facility like Hands Oval is not something that comes around too often, and we are extremely grateful to the City of Bunbury for assisting in bringing this to life.”
Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said the City was proud to be hosting the women’s Country Football Championships in Bunbury, especially being the first time the event has been held outside of the Peel and Perth regions.
“We cannot wait to get down to our newly redeveloped Hands Memorial Oval and see the best female AFL players from across the State, right here in Bunbury,” Mayor Miguel said.
“This is just the latest sign of confidence and interest in Bunbury and our impressive sporting facilities, and we thank and congratulate Country Football WA for bringing the championships to our beautiful city.
“We look forward to welcoming hundreds of players, support staff and fans for the event, which will also provide incredible social and economic benefits for Bunbury.”
The Championships promise to deliver an action-packed, family-friendly atmosphere and celebrate the continued growth and success of women’s football in the regions.
