Country Football WA Talent Shines in WA Girls 16s Squad Selection Fri, March 28, 2025 - 12:26 PM

A talented 26-player squad has been named to represent Western Australia in the 2025 WA Girls 16s program, with strong representation from regional areas, including standout players from the Kimberley, South West, Goldfields, and Wheatbelt.

Ellie Lambkin, Talent Specialist - Female Programs at WA Football, highlighted the squad’s diversity and the broad reach of the female talent pathway.

“The squad this year is a diverse mix of representatives from all over the state with six regional players, five indigenous players, and one multicultural player,” Lambkin said.

“This showcases the great work that WA Football staff, WAFL clubs, and regional leagues are doing in the female pathway to provide opportunities to a vast range of athletes to connect with the talent pathway.”

Among the regional representatives making their mark are:

  • Jasmine Roberts (Claremont/Kimberley)
  • Charlize Guidi (East Perth/South West)
  • Layla Scott (Peel/South West)
  • Maya Walsh (Peel/South West)
  • Marley Kelman (Subiaco/Goldfields)
  • Alexis Henderson (West Perth/Wheatbelt)

Their selection highlights the depth of talent in country football and the increasing opportunities for regional players to develop and showcase their skills on a national stage.

New WA Girls 16s coach, Kate Orme, is eager to see the group in action.

“The coaching group and I are thrilled for the girls to crack in against South Australia and Queensland,” Orme said.

“The playing squad has a strong mix of height, speed, and skill, and they are gelling well on the track.

“The group has had a focus on technical and tactical skills as well as athletic development, preparing them well for our national championship matches as well as their future careers in football.

“The coaches have been impressed with the girls’ drive to improve at each session and can’t wait for them to show their strengths on the national stage.”

The team will kick off their National Championship campaign against South Australia at Revo Fitness Stadium on Sunday, April 6th, at 11:30 am.

With strong representation from across the state, including key country football regions, WA’s 16s squad is set to showcase the strength and growth of female football in regional Western Australia.
