Following the recent Annual General Meeting held on Friday, 28th February 2025, Country Football WA is pleased to share important updates regarding the board composition and the recognition of outstanding contributors to the sport.
The 2025 Country Football WA Board welcomes new and returning directors, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to ensure football continues to thrive across Western Australia.
Sam Alexeeff – With extensive leadership, business, and football experience, Sam serves as a director and secretary of multiple privately owned companies and has held key roles in football administration, including as President of the West Kimberley Football League. His background in education and community development, along with his passion for using football as a tool for social impact, makes him a valuable addition to the board.
Cameron Knapton – A seasoned sports professional with over 30 years in leadership and operational roles, Cameron has contributed to governance, competition management, and stakeholder engagement across various football organisations. His experience includes serving on the boards of the West Australian Sports Federation, Australian Country Football Council, and the Australian Football Coaches Association (WA). His strategic vision and dedication to community football will greatly benefit Country Football WA.
Re-elected Directors:
Mel Sulzberger – A solution-oriented leader with over 30 years of experience in management, administration, and customer service, Mel has been instrumental in implementing strategic plans for the growth of country football. As the current Chair of Country Football WA, she remains committed to fostering inclusivity, club development, and volunteer engagement.
Greg Baird – With decades of experience in football administration and business leadership, Greg has played a key role in strengthening country football in WA. His tenure as President of the Mortlock Football League and ongoing dedication to player welfare ensure that regional football remains strong and sustainable.
The collective expertise of the 2025 board will be instrumental in driving initiatives forward. Country Football WA extends its sincere gratitude to outgoing directors Dylan Panizza and Andy Henshaw for their invaluable contributions to the board and broader football community.
Reflecting on these developments, Executive Manager, Brent Hedley shared his optimism for the future of the game:
