WAFC Proud Partners of KidSport Coaching and Officiating Subsidy Wed, February 19, 2025 - 8:37 AM

The Umpiring Department at the West Australian Football Commission is partnering with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) and their KidSport program to launch an exciting new initiative.

The Kidsport Coaching and Officiating Subsidy program aims to assist young umpires from low-income families to ensure participation in officiating is more accessible.

The WAFC will support Kidpsort to provide financial support to those children in need.

That support will help children get involved in umpiring by covering costs of their umpire club registration/membership fees.

Matthew Laycock, Umpire Recruitment, Development and Retention Specialist at the West Australian Football Commission, is confident the program will achieve great results.

“We’re very excited to introduce this subsidy in partnership with the State Government, the first of its kind for football umpires in WA,” Laycock said.

“We hope it will make umpiring more accessible and encourage more young people to get involved in umpiring.”

The KidSport Coaching and Officiating subsidy is now available for eligible participants aged 12-18 years old to further their coaching and officiating journey in our sport.

This subsidy is available until June 30 this year.
