In a thrilling contest on Friday night, the New Holland Country Women’s team and Perth Football League (PFL) could not be separated, resulting in an 8.2 50 to 7.8 50 draw.
This draw, the first in their three encounters, means PFL will retain the cup for another year, having won the match in 2022.
Originally set to take place at Fremantle Oval, the match was moved to Gil Fraser Reserve in North Fremantle.
The Country team started strong, leading by five points at the main break.
They extended their lead in the second quarter, kicking four goals to PFL's two.
However, PFL came back with a vengeance after half-time, holding the Country side goalless in the third term and leveling the scores by the final break.
In a nail-biting final term, both teams managed to kick a goal each, resulting in a deadlock at the final siren.
For the Country team, Kate Bartlett (PFNL) kicked 3 and Daisy Rigby (SWFL) 2.
Country captain Katie-Jayne Grieve (SWFL) was awarded the Country Football WA Women’s best-on-ground medal and the Think Mental Health Round football for her outstanding performance.
