New Holland Country State Women's and Perth Football League reignite annual match Fri, May 24, 2024 - 2:56 PM

New Holland Country State Women’s team are looking to reclaim the State title and bragging rights, when they come up against the Perth Football League (PFL) Women’s team on Friday June 14 at Fremantle Oval.

These two teams have competed against each other twice before with New Holland Country State team winning in 2021 and PFL winning the following year by a narrow two-point margin.

The New Holland State Game is another opportunity for female players to showcase their skills and see the state’s best regional players come together for this annual match.

Country will be led by Head Coach Rennie Meadmore, a past state player and former WAFL Women’s player who is also a player coach with Busselton Magpies.

She has a tough task ahead, selecting a team, who will spend just over 24 hours together prior to the game, but she’s relishing the challenge.

“To be named the New Holland Country State coach is one of my greatest coaching achievements to date,” Meadmore said.

“To be part of this unreal program and watch other women get the opportunity to wear the state jumper is not something I take lightly.

“I have selected my team around individuals that are best suited for the 18 positions. We have plenty of depth which is very exciting.

“The bond the girls managed to make over a short period of time is special to be part of.”
