Country Football WA is proud to announce a further extension to its 15 year partnership with West Coast Poly.
This year’s focus centres on the launch of West Coast Poly Champion of the Week, a new award that focuses on celebrating the special contribution of ‘champions’ throughout the WA country football community, This is a formal opportunity to shine a light on those individuals who go above and beyond to support their club, on and off the field.
West Coast Poly CEO, Stephen Thompson is thrilled to be partnering with country football once more.
“Here at West Coast Poly we are proud and excited to be the sponsor of Country Footy WA’s Champion of the Week,” Mr Thompson said.
“We have worked with the team at Country Footy WA to redefine what this award means.”
“We hope to put a spotlight on the ‘champions’ in our rural communities that play an important role in country footy. Whether they are on the field, or off the field, each local footy club in WA has their own champions that embody community spirit and commitment, that help their local footy club thrive.
“A lot of our staff come from the country,so we know how important country footy clubs are to the community. They are the hub and beating pulse of each town.
“It’s important that they are supported and highlighted for the tremendous good they do in the community, it’s why we have been sponsoring Country Footy WA for over 15 years.”
The new award will see country clubs and communities nominate their West Coast Poly Champion of the Week, with the winner receiving a $50 SportsPower voucher.
Each weekly ’champion’ will then go in the running to to be named the West Coast Poly Champion of the Year, to be awarded at the 2024 WAFL Grand Final.
In addition, the West Coast Poly Champion of the Year will receive a WAFL Grand Final Experience as well as a Josh Kennedy signed eagles jersey and Josh Kennedy signed footballs, for their club.
WAFC Executive Manager Country Football, Facilities and Affiliates, Brent Hedley said this partnership extension and refocus is a testament to the ongoing commitment from West Coast Poly to the health of regional WA.
