WAFC Statement: COVID 19 Update January 14, 2022 Fri, January 14, 2022 - 3:30 PM

Welcome back for another season of football  in 2022!

As we await the WA State Border reopening on February 5th, the WAFC has been receiving queries relating to the vaccination requirements for community football stakeholders.  The WAFC is constantly reviewing WA Government Health Department guidance and will continue to ensure all policies and recommendations are based on the best possible advice to keep our communities safe. In the last 24 hours, the State Government has updated the list of activities where proof of vaccination will be required and this includes hospitals, gyms and major stadiums.

At this stage Community Sport (Junior & Senior) is not included in the new full vaccination mandate, however, the WAFC strongly recommends all community football stakeholders (players, coaches, umpires, support staff) be, at least, double vaccinated to ensure you play your part in keeping the community safe.

Community Football partners, which includes all affiliated leagues (WA Country Football League, Perth Football League, AFL Masters and Metropolitan Football League) may decide to adopt a mandatory vaccination policy, however the WAFC will continue to provide regular COVID and Vaccination updates and are currently working on COVID incident guidelines for all competitions.

Regional Leagues Specific;
WACFL and WAFC staff will be working with the Police District Vaccination Leaders in each region, with the intention of partnering with WA Health to initiate pop-up Vaccination centres at club training sessions. Clubs will be contacted directly.
