Upper Great Southern Football League have claimed their first Division 1 Landmark Country Football Championships since 2010 after a hard fought 21-point win over Goldfields in Sundays decider at Claremont Oval.

In what was an enthralling contest the Goldfields fought back from a 23-point deficit at the main break to take a three-point lead into the final change.

The final term was one-way traffic though as Uppers clicked into gear and slammed on four goals in five minutes. Former Essendon and South Fremantle live wire Leroy Jetta was the star up forward with three final quarter goals helping Uppers end their silverware drought.

Jarrad Doney was brilliant for the winners and was awarded the Landmark Medal as best on ground in the grand final. He was well supported by Co-Captains Simon Panizza and Matt White.

The Goldfields, who went through the qualifying rounds undefeated, were well served by Kyle Hams, Alex Stuart and Jayden Bootsma. Bootsma also provided one of the highlights of the final with a towering mark on the last line of defence in the final term.

In Division 2 Great Northern ensured their demotion would be short lived as they powered to a 73-point win over Mortlock.

A dominant first half saw Great Northern hold Mortlock goalless and all but ensure their promotion back into the top flight in 2020.

William Thorne was in fine form up forward snagging five majors with former Collingwood back man Shannon Cox also finding the scoreboard with two majors.

Chapman Valleys Leighton Bilgin was sensational for the blue and white, claiming the Landmark medal as best afield in the final. For Mortlock, Jerome Woods, Corey Taylor and Chilton Yarran were the better performers on a tough day.

In the Division 3 decider a four goal to one final term was enough to see Regional All-stars win a thrilling final over the Great Southern Football league.

Comprising of players from none competing leagues, the Regional Allstars went into the final term trailing by five points but found another gear in the final term to record a 13-point win.

Former Claremont star and Cable Beach’s Keifur Yu kicked three majors for the Allstars in a brilliant display whilst Newman Centrals Alex Byrne capped a great championship with the Landmark medal as best afield.

Jesse Wynne, Luke Hutcheson and Harrison Lill were great in a losing cause which made it back to back grand final defeats for the Great Southern side.
