The West Coast Poly Player of the Year has been narrowed down to three finalists ahead of the announcement of the Player of the Year at the WACFL's WAFL Grand Final Function on Sunday September 23 at Optus Stadium.
The 2018 finalists are Pinjarra's Rory O' Brien, Donnybrook's Jace Cormack and Ben Whitsed from Dowerin Wylie.
O'Brien has returned to his home club from Peel Thunder and has not missed a beat, helping his side to a minor premiership. His 2018 season has included being named the Terry House Medallist as WA's best player in the interstate clash against South Australia at Adelaide Oval in July.
After making the switch to Donnybrook this year Cormack has been outstanding. Not only has he helped Donnybrook to a Grand Final berth, he was also part of the victorious Division 1 South West side at the Landmark Country Championships, secured an Allstars jumper, was named the Division 1 Jock Coleman Fairest and Best as well and was also part of the WA side that travelled to South Australia.
Dowerin Wylie's Whitsed's 2018 has been a model of consistency. He was part of the Mortlock side that lost the Division 2 Landmark final but his performances across the carnival saw him earn Allstar selection and be named as the Bud Byfield Division 2 Fairest and Best. To top off an outstanding season Whistsed also took out the Mortlock Football leagues highest honour, the Boekeman Medal, as the leagues Fairest and Best player.
The winner will be recognised as the West Coast Poly Player of the Year and win two tickets to this year’s AFL Grand Final.
