Central Midlands Coastal claimed their first Division 2 Championship since 2003 when they produced a dominant display to defeat Goldfields by 32 points in Sundays final at Leederville Oval.

Both sides had been the stand out out team in their respective pools, moving through to the final undefeated to set up an intriguing final.

CMC got the early jump on the contest, kicking the first two majors of the game courtesy of Kelvin Lawerance and Shaquille McKenzie. The Goldfields would hit back quickly though through former Subiaco star Scott Worthington. 

Two more majors to the lively McKenzie would prove the differnce heading into the first change.

The second term was all one way traffic with CMC controlling the play with their precise ball movement and forward line pressure seeing them add six goals to for the term to only the soliatry Goldifelds major, extending their lead to 43 points at the main change.

Goldifelds managed to get the better of the third term though finding the scorebaord was proving difficult as they managed two goals to one for the term to go into the final change trailling by 38 points. 

Any glimmer of a Goldifleds comeback was snuffed out in quick time though with Simon Moore kicking the first major of the term to end the contest, in the end CMC running out 15.8-98 to 10.6-66 in a highly entertaining contest.

Simon Moore was outstanding for CMC and was awarded with the Landmark Medal as best afield whilst Rhys Waters and JAyden Magro also shone. Rory Muller, Shaqullie McKenzie and Kelvin Lawrence were oputstanding up foward each bagging three majors.

For Goldifelds Alex Devitt and Scott Worthington continued on their great carrnvial form to be the Goldfields best alonside Jordan Rymer and Scott Foley. 

The win is CMC's first since their Division 3 flag in 2013 whilst for the Goldfields their performance over the carnival in what was their return after  anumber of years of not attending is a reminder of the football powerhouse that they are.
