The stage is set for a massive night of representative football as the best talent from regional Western Australia takes on the Perth Football League in a blockbuster double-header at HIF Health Insurance Oval, Joondalup tonight.

With free entry, state pride on the line, and two highly anticipated contests under lights, football fans are encouraged to get along and support what has become one of the premier representative fixtures on the WA football calendar.

The action begins at 5:30pm with the WA State Country Women’s team taking on the Perth Football League Women before the Men’s sides clash at 7:30pm.

The evening will also support FightMND, with fundraising activities, merchandise and activations taking place throughout the night to help raise awareness and support for those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.

The Women’s contest continues a rivalry that has produced some of the most thrilling representative football in recent years. Since the inaugural meeting in 2021, every game has been decided by two points or less, including a draw in 2024 and a one-point WA State Country victory in 2025.

Sheridan Kowald leads the Women’s program for the first time as Head Coach, with players selected from leagues across regional Western Australia coming together to represent their communities on the state stage.

The Men’s match marks the return of a long-standing rivalry between WA State Country and the Perth Football League. The two sides have met 29 times since 1988, with WA State Country holding a narrow 15-14 advantage heading into tonight’s clash.

Returning coach Craig Otto has assembled a squad featuring players from nine country leagues, bringing together some of the best footballers from across regional WA for the representative showcase.

With both teams eager to prove themselves against quality opposition, supporters can expect two fiercely contested matches featuring plenty of skill, intensity and country pride.

For those unable to attend, both matches will be streamed live via YouTube.
