Great Southern Colts Carnival Returns for 104th Edition

Peel Cavaliers – 2025 Great Southern Colts Carnival Champions

The rich history of country football will once again take centre stage when the 2026 Great Southern Colts Carnival heads to Lake Grace on June 13–14, bringing together the best young football talent from across regional southern Western Australia.

First contested in 1922, the Great Southern Colts Carnival remains one of the most iconic and enduring events on the country football calendar. With origins dating back more than a century, the carnival has evolved into a premier pathway event for emerging footballers and continues to play a vital role in the development of regional talent.

This year’s carnival will feature representative teams from:

  • Peel Football & Netball League
  • Goldfields Football League
  • Upper Great Southern Football League
  • Eastern Districts Football League
  • Great Southern Football League
  • Esperance District Football Association
  • Lower South West Football League
  • Ongerup Football Association

Across two action-packed days, some of the region’s most talented young footballers will compete for carnival honours while also showcasing their abilities in front of coaches, selectors and recruiters. The carnival has long been recognised as a breeding ground for future WAFL and AFL talent, with countless players progressing through the pathway after representing their leagues at the event.

The continued success of the Great Southern Colts Carnival would not be possible without the incredible support of its sponsors and partners.

A special acknowledgement must go to Freight Lines Group (FLG) and CBH Group, whose ongoing commitment helps ensure the carnival continues to thrive and provide opportunities for young footballers across regional Western Australia.

These partnerships continue to strengthen regional football and help create memorable experiences for players, volunteers and communities alike.

Players who impress across the weekend will place themselves firmly in contention for selection opportunities leading into the 2026 CBH Colts Championships, which begin on July 9th as part of the Country Football Championships.

The CBH Colts Championships represent the pinnacle of colts representative football in regional Western Australia and provide another opportunity for the state’s best young country footballers to compete against elite opposition while pursuing higher honours. Country Football WA’s partnership with CBH Group continues to strengthen these pathways and support the development of the next generation of country football talent.

Whether you’re a passionate supporter, former player, recruiter or football fan, the Great Southern Colts Carnival promises two days of outstanding football and a glimpse into the future stars of country football.
