Suzi Giblett: The Steady Hand Behind the Sidelines

In country football, some of the most important contributions happen far away from the roar of the crowd. For more than a decade, Suzi Giblett has quietly but powerfully made her mark on the Lower South West Football League  not with goals or glory, but with tape, trust, and tireless care.

As the long-standing Sports Trainer for the league’s representative teams, Suzie has been a constant figure of calm, compassion, and commitment. Whether it’s juniors heading into their first carnival or senior women preparing for a state clash, Suzi is always there supporting players with expert care and genuine kindness.

Her journey into football started like many others through her children’s involvement. But it didn’t take long for Suzi to become an integral part of the team environment, offering far more than just first aid. She brings a warmth that settles nerves, a presence that brings reassurance, and an ability to keep players mentally and physically in the game.

Over the years, she has travelled all over Western Australia supporting the Lower South West’s junior and senior sides. From Country Championships to State Representative fixtures, Suzie has given up countless weekends and weeknights to ensure every player is supported, every injury managed, and every moment made a little easier for those on the field.

“I just love being around the team,” she says. “I enjoy seeing players develop and being part of the environment that helps them grow. It’s rewarding to know you’ve played a small part in their journey.”

Suzi’s presence has become something players rely on  a familiar face, a safe pair of hands, and someone they know always has their best interests at heart. She’s a quiet achiever, never seeking the spotlight, but always deserving of it.

As the Round 3 feature in the NuFarm Women in Country Football Spotlight, Suzi Giblett is being celebrated not just for her years of dedication, but for the way she uplifts others through her service. She is a role model for what it means to give back to the game and to the people who play it.

Thank you, Suzi, for the care, the commitment, and the countless moments you’ve been there when it mattered most.
